COPPERAS COVE – Tax-Free Weekend in Copperas Cove will once again see a yellow bus parked in front of Walmart.

Wednesday, CCISD announced that the 12^th annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive will be held at Walmart Supercenter of Copperas Cove Aug. 7^th-9^th.

Annually, the drive collects between $35,000 and $50,000 worth of school supplies which not only stays in Copperas Cove, but goes directly to CCISD students in need.

The need in Cove is great. Of the district’s approximately 7,600 students, more than 60% are estimated to be “economically disadvantaged” by the Texas Education Agency.

“The Bulldawg community is truly wonderful and incredibly supportive of our schools and, more importantly, our students,” said Kurtis Quillin, Director of Communications. “Every year, they help us fill a school bus with school supplies and ensure every student is given the same opportunities for success right from the first bell of the school year. We are grateful for their support and look forward to helping the students who need it again this year.”

A variety of student groups in CCISD will be part of the event, again, greeting the community and helping to load any donations, thanking donors along the way.

Cash donations received on-site are all immediately turned into school supplies, which go right on to the bus.

The event will start with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on Aug. 7th^th and run until 6 p.m. that night. On Saturday, Aug. 8^th, the event will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and then from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9^th.
