COPPERAS COVE – Copperas Cove classrooms will have additional tools, thanks to the community’s generosity.
Friday, the Copperas Cove Education Foundation awarded its annual Innovative Teaching Grants to teachers across eight campuses in the district, totaling $40,614 to 30 teachers and staff members in Copperas Cove ISD. These grants allow classroom teachers across CCISD to go above and beyond what their regular curriculum provides.
“The generosity of our community and the support of the Copperas Cove Education Foundation will allow our district to enhance how we serve the students in our district,” said CCISD Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “These tools will go above and beyond in preparing our students for countless opportunities which will help in the district’s mission to build a foundation of excellence and a future of success for every student.”
Among the grants awarded Friday were more than $16,000 toward enhancing Career & Technical Education courses in health science, digital media and law enforcement across the high school and junior high campuses in CCISD.
Other grants enhance student learning in science, fine arts, social-emotional development, special education, leadership, writing and more for students ranging from kindergarten until graduation.
“Our goal is to make sure Copperas Cove students have the means for every opportunity to prepare them for life beyond high school,” said Jennifer Cotter, President of the Copperas Cove Education Foundation. “These grants help make our community schools stronger and ensure as bright a future as any parent could imagine for the students in our town. Thank you to the community, which made these grants possible through generous donations, for helping with this effort.”
The Copperas Cove Education Foundation was founded in early 2008 and has awarded Innovative Teaching Grants every year since. Since the organization’s inception, more than $600,000 have been awarded through this initiative in order to impact thousands of Copperas Cove students.
Other annual initiatives from the CCEF include dual credit scholarships for students pursuing college credit in high school each semester, scholarships for collegiate & technical schooling after high school and an annual dinner recognizing the Top 10% of graduates and their most impactful teachers. All of these efforts are made possible through generous donations from the community.
