Crossroads Families,
I hope this message finds you well as we begin the new year together. The past month at Crossroads High School has been filled with memorable moments, meaningful service, and continued growth, and I am proud to share some highlights with you.
One of our most anticipated traditions, the Annual Turkey Bowl flag football game, was finally played after being postponed due to rain just before Thanksgiving. While we were disappointed that our Army partners were called away on Army business and unable to participate, our students stepped up and made the best of the moment with a spirited Blue vs. Gold matchup. The game came down to the final moments, with the Blue Team securing an exciting last-minute scoring drive to earn A 25 - 24 win. The sportsmanship, school pride, and energy displayed by our students made this event a great success. Looking forward to next year as the tradition continues.
We also enjoyed our Christmas Holiday Break from December 19 through January 6, giving students and staff time to rest, recharge, and return ready to finish the semester strong.
Our students continue to demonstrate leadership and service beyond the classroom. The XR Ambassadors collected over 120 pounds of plastic bottles along with a truckload of cardboard for the Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful program. Their commitment to environmental stewardship and community involvement is commendable. In addition, our Environmental Youth Ambassadors have been very active this month. They hosted a meaningful “Lights Out Lunch & Learning,” are currently collecting can tabs, created recycling posters to promote awareness, and volunteered with Fresh Fire LLC by stuffing Christmas gift bags for members of the Cove homeless community. These efforts truly reflect the heart of service we strive to instill in our students.
Please mark your calendars for Winter Graduation on January 23rd. The ceremony will be held at Lea Ledger Auditorium, beginning at 6:00 PM. We are anticipating a strong graduating class and invite all families, friends, and community members to join us in celebrating this momentous milestone for our students.
Our participation with Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) continues to show positive results. We are seeing reduced classroom disruptions, stronger relationships, and increased camaraderie between students and staff. This shared commitment to building connections is helping create a more positive and supportive learning environment for everyone at XRHS.
Thank you for your continued support of Crossroads High School. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our students and our community. I look forward to all that the coming months will bring.
Warm regards,
