Crossroads staff want to take a moment to give a Huge Shout-Out on behalf of Anna Wakley and Shawntae Sneed.

Both recently graduated with degrees from Indiana Wesleyan University and have been recommended for the CCISD R.I.S.E. Academy level of Classroom Instructor at Crossroads.

This is such an amazing accomplishment for both Mrs. Wakley and Ms. Sneed. They will be moving to the next steps of applying with the Teachworthy Alternative Certification program and challenging the exams for certification.

When you have a moment, please join us in Congratulating.
Mrs. Wakley and Mrs. Sneed on this Amazing Accomplishment.

Yesterday, 6 of our amazing student young ladies, Ms. Trahan (Crossroads), Ms. Green (district office) and Ms. Gomez (Copperas Cove High School) attended The Girls Empowerment Conference at Region 12.
We couldn’t be prouder of how they represented our schools.

We were greeted with so much love and enthusiasm from the moment we arrived. The girls listened to powerful speakers, engaged in uplifting activities, connected with other young ladies, and courageously volunteered to present their project to all of the attendees.

And as if the day couldn’t get any better—they were the first table to win raffle prizes and walked away with two BINGO wins!

Just a reminder, the CCISD Board of Trustees approved a policy regarding cell phones and other personal communication devices, in alignment with House Bill 1481. We are encouraging students to put their devices "Away for the Day," to focus on learning. As we approach spring break we would like to remind everyone of the law pertaining to cell phones on campus.

Graphic with image of smart phone and CCISD logo. What is Away for the Day? The goal of Away for the Day, in alignment with House Bill 1481, is to improve learning focus and support a positive, respectful school environment for all students and staff. Away for the Day means that students’ personal devices - cell phones, text-messaging devices, tablets, computers, headphones, earbuds, smart watches and other simlar electronics - must be powered off and out of sight during all parts of the school day, from the time students enter the school until they exit at the end of the day. This includes class time, transitions, breakfast or lunch on campus and restroom breaks.
Common Sense, the national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids and families thrive in a world of media and technology, has recognized Crossroads High School as a Common Sense School.

Crossroads High School has demonstrated its commitment to taking a whole-community approach to preparing its students to think critically and use technology responsibly to learn, create, and participate while preparing them for the perils that exist in the online realm, such as plagiarism, loss of privacy, and cyberbullying. With the right support, kids can take ownership of their digital lives, engage with real issues, and change their communities for the better. The recognition acknowledges our school's commitment to creating a culture of digital citizenship.

"We applaud the faculty and staff of Crossroads High School for embracing digital citizenship as an important part of their students' education," said Merve Lapus, vice president of education outreach and national partnerships at Common Sense Education. Crossroads High School deserves high praise for giving its students the foundational skills they need to compete and succeed in the 21st-century workplace and participate ethically in society at large."

"We're honored to be recognized as a Common Sense School," said Principal Crawley "By preparing our students to use technology safely and responsibly, we are providing them an opportunity to build lifelong habits to help them succeed in a tech-driven world."
